Tricia Butski

Tricia Butski is an artist and educator living in Buffalo, NY. Her drawings examine issues related to memory and identity by exploring its limitations and aestheticizing the instability inherent in portraiture. The work allows the viewer to enter the subconscious space between remembering and forgetting by exploring the blurred lines between realistic representation and abstraction. Tricia holds a BFA in Drawing & Painting from SUNY Fredonia (‘13) and an MFA in Visual Art from the University at Buffalo (‘15). She has been a Studio Artist at Buffalo Arts Studio since 2016 and is a Fine Arts teacher at Buffalo Seminary High School. Tricia has exhibited at many regional galleries, including solo exhibitions at Revolution Gallery, the Nichols School Gallery, and the GCC Roz Steiner Gallery. She has also exhibited in several group shows at galleries and museums including the Burchfield Penney Art Center. In addition to gallery exhibitions, Tricia has worked on several public murals throughout Buffalo including the Albright-Knox “Works, From Home” project (‘20) and the Albright-Knox Northland Public Art Residency (‘21).
