I am an oil painter specializing in landscapes, interiors, and figurative work. Painting offers me a means to explore the mood, energy, and mystery inherent in life and in this world. Through internal reflection and observation of the places and people in my life, my interest is in the tension between life and nonlife, reality and otherworldly, mystery and fact. I paint what is evoked in me, as well as the energy between the place or person and me. Stemming from the influences of the post-impressionists and expressionists, my work often reflects non-traditional uses of color and form. Abstraction in objects and the interaction of masses, both large and small, interests me. The paintings are my meditations on place, time, and self.
