Kathleen Corff Rogers

Artist Statement

After following art classes throughout my education and studying graphic design at Carnegie Mellon University, I enjoyed a long freelance career as a graphic designer. When the opportunity arose to challenge myself artistically, I turned back to photography. Noticing unusual things, which may not even attract someone else’s attention, is how my brain is wired. I find beauty in colors and textures of weathered or discarded materials. I find details in light, space, water, and rocks. When reviewing photos for an exhibit, I dive deep to reach an emotional response. Abstract impressionism with painterly qualities drives my art to challenge the viewer’s emotions.
